Fundraiser Prints Almost Ready for Shipping

Taly and her cousin admiring the view

For anyone that purchased prints at the Hope for Taly Art Gallery Fundraiser on August 19th, I will be mailing them to you shortly, and I thank you all for your patience during this process.
Who knew the post wrap up to the event would be so lengthy?!
I’m currently jumping around from Guelph to Toronto in order to finalize everything, including your prints. You won’t be disappointed. They’re absolutely beautiful and the colours are brilliant.
I will post again once I have mailed every single one so you have a timeline of when the prints should arrive.

Final Effort: Hope for Taly Art Gallery raises just over $8000 for pancreatic cancer research

The little fundraising event that could, raised just over $8,000.00 and with expenses paid, the final number boils down to an astounding $7,000.00 donated to Pancreatic Cancer Canada. The money was raised from donations, ticket sales, art prints that were purchased at the event, and a silent auction and raffle.

This event, however, was more than just a fundraising money goal. In fact, I never really had a goal to start and certainly didn’t expect to raise as much at I did. This was a way for my father and I to heal from my mother’s death. It was a way to raise awareness to a new community of people affected by the loss. And after the event, it was evident that it also helped heal others that knew my mom. But out of everything, I feel that this brought some closure to everyone, including my mother. Her talent was never honoured with a gallery, and her work, rarely appreciated by strangers, never sold. Now it is as if we can finally close the chapter on her life from showcasing her passion, with a legacy of paintings, a continuous inspiration of her strength, hope, and love.

Libby Znaimer, and Laurie Ellies joined us at the event.

I started this website on June 25th, a mere 15 days after my mother’s death. The event took place on August 19th, barley 2 months later. From start to finish this was a labour of love that couldn’t have been done without my colleagues, community, friends, and family.

I put together a video of the event. The original music didn’t make it past YouTube’s copyright laws so I used one of their tracks instead (not my first choice obviously). I also apologize for any misspellings….

Fifteenth Effort: Final touches before the event

Visit with grandma hippo watercolour

I cannot believe how time has flown by so quickly. The event is happening tomorrow evening! My father and I spent the entire couple of days framing over 50 pieces of art and writing descriptors for about 150 pieces or so. Signs have been made, silent auctions and raffle items have been wrapped, a speech written, and volunteers briefed on their timelines. I am very nervous, but I’m hopeful. It has been stressful at times, but I would gladly do this all over again. Have I found my calling in event planning? … probably not, but if the event is successful I would love to do something like this again. Either way, the fundraising doesn’t stop here. I will say it now, and it won’t be the last time, Thank you to everyone who has read this blog, commented, subscribed, donated, bought a ticket, and volunteered their time to the event! I wouldn’t have been motivated or able to do this without you.

Looking forward to tomorrow. Finally!
